What an altar is
An altar is a small, intentional space where you place things that matter to you. It is not a performance. It is a place to put your intention so you can see it.
A beginner's altar might hold a candle, a stone, a photograph, a flower, or a note you wrote. There is no wrong way to set one.
The permanent altar at Sanctuary
The ceremony space at Sanctuary has a permanent altar and landing stairs. You are welcome to add to it for your gathering — you may add, but not remove.
Guests can photograph the altar and are asked to get consent before photographing other people.
Setting your own
Choose a flat surface where you will see it daily. Place objects that mean something to you. Keep it simple. The altar is for you, not for anyone else.
